Dear Scheller Community,
A lot has happened since my last monthly message!
I am delighted to welcome Manpreet Hora as the new Senior Associate Dean for Programs. Manpreet brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position and will play a critical key role in advancing our degree and non-degree programs and initiatives.
Based on my conversations with faculty and alumni, we are gaining further clarity on our immediate aspirations and what we will proudly advance as our new Scheller initiatives. These include:
- Continued focus on student readiness, with access to meaningful experiential and entrepreneurial learning opportunities and personalized career support
- Advancing and leveraging our connections with business, policy, and entrepreneurial communities
- Supporting our faculty as they provide insight and expertise that steers scholarship, academia, and industry
- Creating a bridge to the rest of Georgia Tech through cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary partnerships
- Crafting the next portfolio of Scheller degree and non-degree programs to address the growing demand for specialized, flexible business education
Achievements and Accolades:
- #1 Ranked MBA Career Services: The MBA career services provided by the Jones MBA Career Center have been ranked No. 1 globally by The Financial Times. We are committed to student success and outcomes and are grateful to the careers team, corporate partners, and global alumni network.
- Excellence in Teaching Awards: We are incredibly proud that five of our esteemed faculty members have been recognized with the Georgia Tech CIOS Excellence in Teaching Award for Fall 2023: Karie Davis-Nozemack, Manpreet Hora, Tim Halloran, Gary Jones, and Dong Liu.
- Service Anniversaries: We are proud to celebrate the five-year service anniversaries of Ramona Howard, Executive MBA Academic Program Manager, and Simona Spagnoli, Assistant Director of Communications for TI:GER. Please join me in congratulating them on reaching this new milestone!
- We are thrilled to announce the approval of the FinTech minor by the Georgia Tech Faculty Senate. This innovative offering will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving financial technology landscape.
- Our “Wine Down” Faculty Professional Development Workshop series has been successfully launched! Our first session featured Jacqueline Garner, Eunhee Sohn, and Michael Smith discussing how they are using generative AI in data analysis, research, and teaching.
- It was a privilege to host President Ángel Cabrera for our inaugural Tech Talks Business session this past month.
- We hope you can join us for the next installment of Tech Talks Business today at 4 p.m. featuring Laurel Hurd, President and CEO of Interface Inc., the company founded by Mr. Ray C. Anderson of the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business. A part of Georgia Tech’s SDG Action and Awareness Week, this is an opportunity to engage in a discussion at the intersection of business, sustainability, and innovation.
