Dear Scheller Community,
As we step into the new month, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights from the 2024 Georgia Tech President’s Report, which showcases the incredible growth and achievements of our Institute over the past year.
- With over 53,000 students in Fall 2024, Georgia Tech surpassed Georgia State University to become the institution with the highest enrollment in Georgia. Scheller is also proud to have welcomed its largest-ever undergraduate class in Fall 2024, a testament to the continued strength and reputation of our programs.
- In 2024, Georgia Tech awarded over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees, further underscoring our collective commitment to academic excellence and the preparation of future leaders.
- One of the exciting initiatives that underscores our forward-thinking approach is the launch of the College of Lifetime Learning. This new College is aimed at doubling the number of degrees granted and expanding access to non-degree learners by 2030. I’m thrilled to be chairing the search for the inaugural dean of the College, and I look forward to the exciting collaborations that lie ahead.
- On the research front, Georgia Tech continues to set the pace, ranking No. 1 in research and development expenditures among universities without a medical school.
- Georgia Tech was ranked the No. 1 best value college among public universities by The Princeton Review. Scheller also continues to shine, ranking No. 1 among top-ranked programs for its MBA salary to tuition ratio—a reflection of the high return on investment our students receive.
- Georgia Tech’s economic impact on the state of Georgia is another key point of pride—$5.3 billion. This speaks to our role as a catalyst for innovation, job creation, and economic growth in the region.
Last week, we kicked off our 2025 Tech Talks Business series with Tim Oliver, president and CEO of NCR. It was inspiring to see so many of our students, faculty, and community members engage with Tim as he shared valuable insights on leadership and innovation. This series is one of the many ways we’re bringing thought leaders to campus to inspire and challenge us.
Looking ahead, I’m excited for the upcoming events and initiatives that will keep us moving forward:
- We will be hosting the AI and Future of Finance Conference on March 20 and 21, featuring special Tech Talks Business sessions with Andrew Schlossberg, president and CEO of Invesco, and Bill Rogers, Chairman and CEO of Truist. The conference promises to explore the intersection of finance, technology, and business in a rapidly changing world.
- Scheller in Your City events will take place in Marietta on February 11 and Washington D.C. on February 18. These events are a wonderful way to reconnect with alumni, expand our network, and foster new relationships across our community.
- Our annual Marketing Innovation Conference @ Scheller will bring together top thought leaders to discuss emerging trends and strategies in the marketing field on February 21. This event is open to the public and is sure to spark fresh ideas and collaboration.
I recently had the opportunity to tour the new Scheller Tower, set to open in less than a year. This incredible addition to our campus will provide us with more tools and resources to prepare our students for the next era of business and technology. Support is needed for Tech Square Phase 3 as part of Transforming Tomorrow: The Campaign for Georgia Tech. Giving will help fund state-of-the-art classrooms, a finance and technology floor, outdoor plazas, innovation lounges, and much more—spaces that will inspire and equip the leaders of tomorrow.
Lastly, I want to congratulate our colleagues who were recognized among the 2024 CIOS Award winners:
- Ryan Blunck for MGT 4043: Advanced Financial Reporting
- Jacqueline Garner for MGT 4073: Financial Modeling
- Satyajit Karnik for MGT 4067: Financial Markets: Trading and Structure
- Dong Liu for MGT 3101: Organizational Behavior
- Frank Rothaermel for IMBA 6132: Strategy
As we move through 2025, the opportunities before us are truly exciting. With the strong momentum we’ve built at Georgia Tech and at Scheller, the possibilities ahead are full of promise.
Best wishes,
