Tech Square Phase 3

Tech Square Phase 3

A Visionary Expansion of Georgia Tech's Innovation Hub

After more than four years of planning and groundwork, the ambitious Tech Square Phase 3 (TS3) initiative is underway. With two impressive towers at its core connected by a shared elevator, the TS3 project, slated to finish in 2026, encompasses 416,500 square feet and includes a large outdoor plaza for street-level retail.

The building will feature two striking structures: the 14-story Scheller Tower and the 18-story George Tower, respectively named after generous benefactors Ernest "Ernie" Scheller Jr. (IM 1952, HON Ph.D. 2013) and Bill William W. "Bill" George (IE 1964, HON Ph.D. 2008) and his wife Penny.

The Evolution of a Grand Vision

The groundbreaking ceremony of Tech Square Phase 3

Tech Square Phase 3 isn't just an addition; it's the natural progression of a dream that began with the original Tech Square initiative when the Georgia Tech Foundation purchased eight acres of land in 1997. The TS3 development brings together the State of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and private philanthropists.

Its residents will include two of Georgia Tech's most celebrated programs: the Scheller College of Business graduate and executive education programs and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. This will foster collaboration that advances Tech and allow other Institute units to expand on main campus and Tech Square.

However, this isn't just good news for Tech. The ripple effects of this project will be felt by the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia for generations to come.

“When construction crews drive the final nail in 2026, Tech Square will have the infrastructure to support the programs, talent, culture, connections, and partnerships necessary to sustain itself as one of the country’s premier hotbeds for technological entrepreneurship. ”

– President Cabrera

More Than Just Classrooms

Aerial View of Tech Square

Tech Square Phase 3 is poised to become a catalyst for innovation, fostering unprecedented opportunities in collaborative research, cross-disciplinary breakthroughs, and dynamic business ventures. The space allows students to gain proximity to corporate innovation centers, incubators, and accelerators and provides opportunities to engage with business partners, receive hands-on experience through capstone projects and practicums, and learn from industry leaders through.

As TS3 takes shape, it's clear that this is more than just a construction project. It's a bold statement about the future of education, innovation, and collaboration. It's about creating a space where the brightest minds can come together, ideas can flourish, and the next generation of leaders and innovators can be nurtured.

So, whether you're a current student, a proud alumni, or someone passionate about the future of Tech and innovation, keep your eyes on Tech Square Phase 3. It's not just changing the Atlanta skyline; it's set to change the future of education and innovation as we know it.

“There are a lot of synergies between the two groups that we can expand upon, and it will become easier when you're right next door. ”
