Dear Scheller Community,

With the arrival of a new academic year, I want to start by acknowledging the deeply felt loss of our esteemed colleague and beloved faculty member, Arn Rubinoff, who passed away this past month. Arn’s dedication, wisdom, and warmth touched countless lives at the Scheller College of Business. His contributions to our institution and his impact on students and colleagues alike will continue to be remembered with great affection and respect. We mourn his loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and all who knew him.

In honoring Arn’s memory, we carry forward the spirit of connection and community that he exemplified. From our thrilling football wins to orientations and recruiting events, King of Pops welcome back event, Opening Bell celebration, and the first Tech Talks Business sessions of the semester, the collective pride and enthusiasm of our community has shone bright this past month.

The discussion at the faculty retreat last month confirms that our momentum in introducing new, innovative educational offerings also remains strong. I am pleased to announce the launch of our new Executive Education course, Cybersecurity Governance for Board Members. The course teaches sitting and aspiring board members how to leverage their existing business and risk management skills and apply them to cybersecurity oversight.

Looking ahead, there are many opportunities for the Scheller community to connect and engage.
  • Please join us in person or virtually for the 2024 Institute Address on September 5, where President Cabrera will convey his vision and goals for the upcoming academic year.
  • On September 19, we are excited to host Transforming the Future of Finance: Panel and Networking Reception in New York City. This event promises to be a valuable platform for deepening our connections within the finance community.
  • The Scheller alumni contact update campaign concludes on September 13. We request alumni to take a moment to update their information to remain connected with our vibrant network and future opportunities.
  • On October 1, our Tech Talks Business session will feature a panel discussion with top industry leaders from Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company as they delve into the future of the consulting industry. Registration will close on September 26.
We are also excited to welcome the following new faculty members to the College:
  • Herrison Chicas, Assistant Professor, Organizational Behavior
  • Sun Yong Kim, Visiting Assistant Professor, Finance
  • Daniel Yue, Assistant Professor, Information Technology Management
Our community’s spirit, enthusiasm, commitment, and support make our College a remarkable place to learn, grow, and lead. It is inspirational. Here’s to a wonderful fall semester!

Warm regards,

Anuj Mehrotra
