Dear Scheller Community,
As we step into October, I am filled with gratitude for the dynamic energy our community continues to embody. The past month was filled with momentum, and we are excited to share several exciting developments that highlight our commitment to excellence and innovation.
First is the launch of our new Center for Finance and Technology, an initiative designed to prepare the next generation of finance professionals. Supported by a generous gift from Mike and Jenny Messner and led by Professor Sudheer Chava, the Center was unveiled at a panel and networking reception event held in New York City on September 19. The Center will provide Georgia Tech students with invaluable hands-on experience and direct connections to industry leaders, reinforcing our commitment to bridging academia and practice.
The launch of the Center is just one part of our broader effort to enhance finance education at Scheller. This past month, we had the honor of hosting Dr. Raphael Bostic, President and CEO of the Atlanta Federal Reserve, in Professor Gary Jones’ Management of Financial Institutions class. President Bostic’s presentation offered our undergraduate students valuable insight into the structure and functions of the Federal Reserve, as well as inspiring reflections from his own career journey.
This past month was also a time for celebration, with the news of four outstanding rankings outcomes for the College. Our Full-time MBA program has been named Top 20 in the nation by not one, but three publications, including Bloomberg Businessweek (at a first-ever No. 16!), Fortune, and QS. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report has ranked our undergraduate program No. 18 in the nation, marking a three-spot jump from last year. Also, our specialties in Analytics, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Quantitative Analysis, and Operations are ranked Top 10 overall.
I would like to commend our Net Impact MBA Chapter for being awarded the prestigious "Chapter of the Year” honor. Sponsored by the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, the chapter is inspiring and equipping emerging leaders with the tools they need to build a more just and sustainable world.
Last month saw us hosting retreats for our Scheller faculty and staff. Through exercises and discussions related to our strategic goals, we walked away with a reinforced commitment to fostering growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation at Scheller.
Looking ahead, I encourage you to participate in several upcoming opportunities:
- This evening, we will host a special Tech Talks Business session featuring Jean Marie Richardson, esteemed Scheller alum, member of the Georgia Tech and Scheller Advisory Boards, and founder and CEO of iFOLIO.
- Tomorrow, on October 8, we are proud to host the Women in Technology Young Professionals for Your Career in Bloom: Cultivating Growth and Embracing Challenges in Your Early Career. Students, alumni, faculty, and staff are invited to participate.
- On October 22, Scheller will host its 16th annual MBA Golf Classic at the Piedmont Driving Club, bringing together students, alumni, and business community leaders.
- Chris Womack, Chairman, President and CEO of Southern Company, will join us as our next guest in the Tech Talks Business series on October 22.
- And finally, Scheller will be in Jacksonville, Florida on October 29 and we invite all alumni and friends of the College to join us for a networking social.
Our community continues to inspire with its enthusiasm and dedication. Together, let’s embrace all the opportunities ahead for connection, learning, and growth!
Warm regards,
