Dear Scheller Community,
Wow, January has been super energizing! It’s befitting that it concluded with the Jackets’ win over the Tar Heels. Through many meetings, meals, walks, and conversations with students, alumni, faculty, and staff, I have been reminded again and again of what makes our community special – the people.
It has been inspiring to hear all the innovative ideas and realize our opportunities for growth are limitless. I’m excited to share that this past month we have started making progress towards our shared vision. It’s been wonderful to partner with the Scheller leadership team and colleagues throughout the College and Institute to make some strides:
- Our collaborative efforts on new proposed Scheller initiatives are off to a great start with the formation of working groups for various initiatives, including the Master in Management (4+1) program, Sports and Entertainment Undergraduate Certificate, a minor in Fintech in partnership with the College of Computing, new collaboration with the College of Design’s Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program, and experiential/entrepreneurship capstone courses. In addition, the inaugural Wine Down Faculty Development Series session on leveraging ChatGPT for teaching is scheduled for February 15 and progress has started on refurbishing the faculty lounge.
- We're thrilled to announce that our undergraduate program secured a top 10 spot in P&Q’s latest ranking! Scheller is the only business school in the state of Georgia ranked in the top 10. We also ranked No. 1 for worth of cost in tuition, time, and resources; No. 2 for academic and career advising; and No. 3 for faculty quality and accessibility in the nation. Please join me in celebrating this achievement, one that reflects our community’s steadfast commitment to student success.
- Progress on Tech Square Phase III continues. We have been working towards creating spaces that will set a new standard for business schools, while also leveraging our proximity to George Tower and ISyE for collaboration that will enrich both faculty research and student experience.
- We are fortunate to have received several nominations of excellent candidates for the Senior Associate Dean of Programs role and look forward to announcing decisions soon.
Please also join me in congratulating our colleagues on their service anniversaries. This month, Craig Womack, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, celebrates his 25th anniversary, and Tonia Valeck, QCF Corporate Relations Manager, celebrates her 10th anniversary. I hope you’ll take a moment to recognize these community members.
I’m incredibly grateful for your support, warmth, encouragement, and engagement. Together, let’s keep working to shape a brighter future and take the steps to make it a reality. Please continue to reach out with questions, comments, and ideas.
Onwards and upwards!
