Meet Taylor Reedy, who is graduating from the M.S. Major in Management program.

Hometown:

Roswell, Georgia

Describe yourself in 15 words or less:

Adventurous and curious, results-driven problem solver, and overall people person!

Who most influenced your decision to pursue an M.S. Major in Management?

Honestly, it was my decision, but the support of my family was a big contributor. I also had the chance to attend an information session.

What was your favorite business course and why?

My favorite course was Intro to Finance! It was great to have a course that felt applicable in all aspects of life and Professor Sharada Sridhar does a great job of bringing current events into class.

What advice would you give to an incoming M.S. Major in Management student?

Utilize your cross-cohort classes to work with new people when possible, and network and connect with professors and alumni. There are many electives, cater them to your career aspirations but also your interests! I think Project Management is a great elective that everyone should take if they have the availability.

What activities were you involved with on or off campus, and did your business education
impact those activities in any way?

While on campus, I have served on the M.S. Major in Management student board! We plan events and coordinate with the program office. When I’m not on campus, I’m either working or at the gym.

What was your favorite event or tradition at Scheller, and why?

I love the homecoming tailgate! It’s a great event to get to know members of the MBA class in a more casual setting.

What is the biggest myth about the Scheller College of Business?

Scheller College is just for business majors; that’s totally false! Business is in every aspect of society, and the skills you gain here prepare you for basically any role you may hold. Taking a leadership class or learning more about consumer behaviors can benefit any field! Not everyone is studying to be an investment banker.

What was your career journey in the M.S. Major in Management program?

I went to Georgia Tech for undergrad as well and have my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Before joining the program, I was working in procurement and inventory management, and I wanted to build on the business skills I had gained through working. The M.S. Major in Management program has given me the opportunity to network with a community I wasn’t tapped into during my previous time at Georgia Tech. I’m still looking for a good career fit so feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn!

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list?

I’d really like to spend some time working in another country and learn another language! I think those two things would be perfect in tandem.

What was a moment when you had to practice persistence and/or resilience while in the M.S. Major in Management program?

There can be times when a lot of deadlines creep up very fast. Working in a core group really helps as there was a time my first semester when I had something due in all five of my classes within the span of three days.

What is the biggest lesson you gained from your Scheller M.S. Major in Management degree?

Network, network, network! This program is a great chance to get to know classmates, recruiters, alumni, etc. Scheller has so many events and pop-up recruiters in the atrium. It never hurts to introduce yourself!

What will you be doing to celebrate your graduation?

I’ll probably go to Delbar, one of my favorite restaurants! I highly recommend the Chinjeh and Bastani Irani for dessert. 😊

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have a ton of houseplants! I have had an Atlanta Botanical Gardens membership throughout all my years at Georgia Tech and love walking through the greenhouses whenever I need a morning to myself.
