Meet four incoming M.S. Major in Management students at the Scheller College of Business: Gia Burson, Ryan Mutombo, Ansley Nichols, and Cullen Teas.

The Georgia Tech M.S. With a Major in Management program is excited to welcome a new group of incoming students, each of them in the early stages of their careers with sights set on pairing their passions and experience with a strong business foundation.  

This year’s M.S. Major in Management students are a deep-sea diving, anime loving, philosophy reading, running addicted group ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities that await them as they begin their program.

Gia Burson

Name:Gia Burson 

Hometown: Atlanta, GA 

Undergraduate: BA, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Emory University 

What brought you to Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program?  

I discovered this program while researching graduate school options and was delighted to see Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program, because it perfectly aligns with my aspirations and academic background.  

With my undergraduate degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, I have developed a deep understanding of diversity, inclusion, and the human elements critical to organizational success. Scheller’s emphasis on innovation and leadership in management is exactly what I need to bridge my passion for human resources with cutting-edge business practices. 

Additionally, being from Atlanta, I have always admired Scheller's strong connections with the local business community, which I believe will offer invaluable networking opportunities and practical experience.  

In short, Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program offers the perfect blend of academic rigor, practical experience, and a supportive community that will help me achieve my career goals. 

What is your dream job?  

My dream job is director of HR.  

What are you doing now to prepare for the new school year?  

I’m making sure to brush up on my math! Math has never been my strong suit, and I want to be thoroughly prepared for the quantitative aspect of this program. 

What do you want your future classmates to know about you?  

I want them to know that I’m easy to work with and open to collaboration.  

A few fun facts:   

I’m the youngest of three, my favorite color is red, and I love anime.

 

Ryan Mutombo

Name: Ryan Mutombo 

Hometown: Atlanta, GA 

Undergraduate: BA, Government; Georgetown University 

What brought you to Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program?  

I wanted a strong foundation in the principles of business and management. When I had the opportunity to play basketball at Georgia Tech for a final year, a former professor of mine pointed me towards this new program. It seemed like the perfect fit for me. 

What is your dream job?  

In the long-term, I would like to be a professor teaching theology, philosophy, and ethics. 

What are you doing now to prepare for the new school year?  

Meeting with business and finance professionals of all ages. Most importantly, I’m learning my way around campus! 

What do you want your future classmates to know about you?  

I have a deep passion for literature, philosophy, and music!

Most of my free time is spent reading or practicing.

 

Ansley Nichols

Name: Ansley Nichols  

Hometown: Roswell, GA  

Undergraduate: BS, Biomedical Engineering; Georgia Institute of Technology 

What brought you to Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program? 

I applied to the M.S. Major in Management program because I wanted to further develop my leadership and project management skills to contribute meaningfully to the medical device industry.  

What is your dream job?  

My dream job is working in medical device research and development (R&D) to develop life altering solutions for patients in need.  

What are you doing now to prepare for the new school year? 

I am preparing for the new school year by taking a Harvard statistics course and spending some quality time with friends and family.  

What do you want your future classmates to know about you? 

I want my future classmates to know that I love to meet people and am always interested in getting together over a cup of coffee or good food. 

A few fun facts:  

I am an avid scuba diver and have dived up to 100 feet deep.

 

Cullen Teas

Name: Cullen Teas 

Hometown: Alpharetta, GA 

Undergraduate: BFA, Film and Television; Savannah College of Art and Design 

What brought you to Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program?  

After graduating from SCAD, I wanted to supplement my creatively based undergrad studies by furthering my business skillset before entering the industry. Scheller’s M.S. Major in Management program was the perfect steppingstone to help me grow my knowledge of the business world. 

What is your dream job?  

My dream job is to be a senior executive at a major entertainment conglomerate, like HBO. This role would allow me to engage in the creative side of the film and television industry and empower creators to pursue their artistic passions, while still considering the financial side of an established and respected brand in the industry. 

What are you doing now to prepare for the new school year? 

In addition to updating my resume and LinkedIn, I’m reaching out to my new classmates to begin to build relationships. I’m also immersing myself in the business world by reading business-oriented publications, like the Wall Street Journal, so that I am familiar and up to date with the verbiage and current happenings of the professional world for when these topics come up in classroom lectures and discussions. 

What do you want your future classmates to know about you?  

More than anything, I want my classmates to know that I am incredibly eager to engage in this program and learn and grow with them. I’m hardworking and love to work with others. I cannot wait to get to know them all and work together on projects, both inside and outside of the classroom, over the next year at Scheller, in our careers, and beyond.  

A few fun facts:  

Outside of the classroom, I am passionate about running. You’ll see me out on the Beltline almost every morning. I also love both playing and watching soccer.
