Dear Scheller Community,
It has only been a semester since I started at Scheller, but it feels like I have known everyone here for some time. Thank you for the amazing welcome and warmth – and for our very fruitful and energizing discussions.
As we turn the page on this semester, it is with deep gratitude that we honor the memory of Roberta Scheller, beloved wife of Ernie Scheller, who passed on May 3. I'm immensely grateful for the legacy she leaves of humility, generosity, philanthropy, and commitment to the College.
Roberta's spirit lives on within the Scheller community, distinguished by the strength of our bonds and the vibrancy of our long-standing traditions and ceremonies. These experiences not only strengthen our sense of shared purpose, but also allow us to exchange ideas and look forward with excitement to what the future holds.
Last week, we celebrated the hard work and perseverance of our graduates at Commencement. I’m confident they will carry forward the Scheller legacy with pride.
In the weeks leading up to Commencement, I truly enjoyed the many events and traditions that bring our community together. I’m trying to debate which one was most energizing – whether it was Honors Day, Closing Bell, the MBA Alumni Reunion, the MBA Crawfish Boil, Georgia Tech Service Awards, Advisory Board meetings, academic conferences, or something else! Tough call.
These gatherings, I feel, are not just celebrations. For me, they served as a testament to the strength of our bonds as students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, and friends. Witnessing the engagement and shared joy of our community is a profound reminder of the impact of our work.
Looking ahead, we're excited to be offering the M.S. With a Major in Management program in Fall 2024. This degree is designed for early career students who are eager to advance their knowledge and skills in business. Students will get the chance to merge their diverse interests in the Scheller classroom and build a strong foundation to meet career goals.
And now, my ask as we look to the future.
We have had the fortune of receiving ideas from stakeholders throughout our community. So, here’s my new ask: I invite you to share at least one transformative idea that we could pursue as a College. An idea you believe could change the face of Scheller, business education, and society as a whole. I invite you to submit your ideas through the transformative ideas section of the new Scheller initiatives page or to dean@scheller.gatech.edu.
Thank you for thinking big and dreaming big. Here's to a future filled with promise and endless possibility!
