Dear Scheller Community,
As we approach the start of the Fall 2024 semester, my first at the College, I am filled with anticipation and excitement!
I am especially excited about having our students back on campus. While classes formally begin on August 19, we have several orientations, intensive weeks, and more which are kicking off today. This year, we are thrilled to welcome a new cohort of early-career students to our M.S. Major in Management program. This addition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing relevant educational opportunities for lifelong learners at all career stages.
This commitment extends to innovation in global, experiential learning as well. This fall, we are launching Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama, a new immersive certification option through which students collaborate with Georgia Tech alumni at a sponsoring company in Panama to complete their final process improvement project and earn their Green Belt certificate.
Scheller’s dedication to and achievements in our existing programs continue to inspire me. Our Executive MBA program was recently ranked No. 1 in Georgia by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Additionally, The Princeton Review ranked our Full-time MBA program among the top five in the nation for classroom experience, career prospects, and resources for minority students. These continuing accolades underscore our focus on both excellence and access.
A couple of weeks ago, six Scheller alumni were recognized in the annual Georgia Tech Alumni Association’s “40 Under 40” list. This year’s theme was 'Yellow Jackets Who Push Beyond Boundaries.’ Five degree graduates and one TI:GER program graduate were honored for their innovative work and efforts in addressing major global challenges.
This last month also saw us hosting a fantastic Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) alumni mixer, that afforded graduates from both Scheller and Emory Goizueta Business School an opportunity to extend their connections beyond their respective networks.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of opportunities:
- On August 24, you’re invited to cheer on our Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets during the Ireland football game, whether you’re here or abroad. We will be hosting a watch party at Fadó Irish Pub in Buckhead, a great opportunity to come together and celebrate our school spirit.
- August 28 will be our first Tech Talks Business session of the fall season. We are excited to welcome Ted Decker, Chair, President, and CEO of The Home Depot, who will share insights on leadership and innovation. Please join me for this and other upcoming Tech Talks Business events that will connect students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the business community with industry and policy leaders.
- Registration is now open for our next AI for Business course, scheduled for September 17–19. This on-campus Executive Education course offers an invaluable opportunity for professionals and executives to learn about the latest advancements in AI and its newest applications in the business world.
Lastly, and most importantly, we are a strong community because of our people. Please join me in extending a warm Scheller welcome to three new staff colleagues who have recently joined the College:
- Destiny Boyd, Assistant Director, Financial Operations
- Susan Mellage, Director, Evening MBA Recruiting
- Robert “Trey” Sullivan, Assistant Dean, Executive MBA
As we prepare for another productive and inspiring year, I am grateful for the unique gifts and enthusiasm each of our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends contribute. I can’t wait to reach new heights together!
Warm regards,
Anuj Mehrotra
