Georgia Tech considers you an international applicant if you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident, regardless of where in the world you live. We strongly encourage all international MBA applicants to submit application materials early to expedite the admissions process.
The admissions criteria applied in evaluating international applicants are essentially the same as those for U.S. citizens. All application materials, including transcripts and recommendations, must be submitted online and in English. You may also be required to submit official English Proficiency Scores (TOEFL or IELTS), translated academic transcripts, and financial documents if applying for a student visa.
MBA STEM Designation
Effective May 31, 2022, the Georgia Tech Scheller MBA is recognized as a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degree. International students graduating with an MBA degree after this date will be eligible to apply for a two-year Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension.
International Student MBA Requirements
English Proficiency Scores (TOEFL or IELTS)
Applicants must submit a valid TOEFL or IELTS score. Exceptions to the English standardized exams are listed at Graduate Studies English Proficiency Requirements.
TOEFL scores are valid for two years and the minimum score requirement is 95 on the TOEFL internet-based test (iBT). IELTS score must be a minimum of 7.
Transcripts
All applicants must hold a U.S. bachelor's degree or equivalent to be considered for admission. If you completed any part of your education outside of the United States, review the country-specific guidelines set by Georgia Tech’s Office of Graduate Education to determine the minimum qualifications needed to be eligible for admission. Since these are Georgia Tech requirements, we are unable to make exceptions to this policy. Neither professional designations nor work experience count towards minimum degree requirements.
Georgia Tech Graduate Studies requires the following documents from international applications:
-
Official native language transcripts
-
Official English translation of native language transcript
-
Official native language degree documents
-
Official English translation of the native language degree documents
Official transcripts and degree documents must be submitted at the time of application and Georgia Tech Graduate Studies will evaluate them. Georgia Tech Graduate Studies does not accept any private evaluation of academic documents.
