General Lean Six Sigma FAQs
Students who complete Green Belt or Black Belt program coursework and final process improvement project will receive a certification from the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business.
Some benefits of Lean Six Sigma certification for individuals include increased value to employers, improved job prospects, and more opportunities to move into managerial roles. Benefits for organizations include improved productivity, reduced costs, and improved customer satisfaction.
Georgia Tech Lean Six Sigma FAQs
Yes, a satisfactory process improvement project must be completed before you can receive either your Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certificate.
You can either complete this requirement through completing a process improvement project at your organization, or through our Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama program. This option gives students the opportunity to work with Empresas Barn, a sponsoring Panamanian company, on their final process improvement project.
All certificate requirements (courses and project work) must be completed within a one-year timeframe. Once your project is complete, it will be evaluated for your certification.

No, you do not have to complete a project at the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt level if you intend to earn your Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certificate.
You will not become “certified” for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt until you satisfactorily complete a project for that level.
You will need a laptop with a reliable internet connection and Excel access.

Georgia Tech Lean Six Sigma Certification Project in Panama FAQs
Students begin by completing four half-day synchronous sessions, gaining a solid foundation in the DMAIC methodology and essential Six Sigma tools.
Following this initial training, participants will travel to Panama for a seven-day experiential journey. They will work directly with a sponsoring Panamanian company, gaining invaluable hands-on experience. The itinerary includes a thorough tour of the company's operations, an in-depth walk-through to understand existing processes, and collaborative sessions to define and analyze real-world problems. Participants will develop data collection plans and prepare presentations to deliver actionable insights to the host company.
The cost for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt: Certification Project in Panama is $3,500 and includes a five-star hotel, daily breakfast/lunch, welcome dinner, farewell dinner, cultural activity, motor coach transportation, airport transfers, and company site visits.
The cost does not include airfare or the four-day Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course.
