Executive MBA students en route from Vietnam to Singapore as part of their international residency

Each year, Executive MBA students at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business take part in an international residency that brings classroom learning to life through hands-on, cross-cultural immersion. The international residency is an integral, two-week component of the Executive MBA curriculum.

This spring, students explored the vibrant business landscapes of Vietnam and Singapore, engaging with industry leaders, global firms, and local entrepreneurs to deepen their understanding of international markets and leadership.

In Vietnam, students immersed themselves in Ho Chi Minh City’s fast-evolving economy, where they experienced firsthand the synergy of tradition and rapid growth. From conversations with leaders at VinaCapital and FPT Software to site visits with Amazon Web Services and DHL Global Forwarding, students examined Vietnam’s expanding role in the global economy.

In Singapore, students explored a global hub where finance, technology, and global logistics converge. They engaged in dialogues with executives from IBM, Mastercard, FedEx, Microsoft, and more, diving deep into topics like AI-driven innovation, supply chain resilience, and ESG practices shaping the future of business.

Here’s what some of our Executive MBA students had to say about their international residency experience.

"My international residency has altered my perception of global business through the notion of resilience, innovation, and strategic outlook. Vietnam demonstrated a nation in motion towards greater entrepreneurial energy and digital aspiration while Singapore demonstrated collaborative leadership among diverse stakeholders in a hyper-connected world through precision policy relevance. These experiences propelled and expanded my worldview.

As Saint Augustine states, 'The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page,' and traveling with a group of knowledgeable and fun people is the greatest teacher."

"The most valuable part of the international residency was the pragmatic exposure to different cultures, working styles, resources, and histories of Vietnam and Singapore, which define their continuous success in business. This visit definitely provided a great visibility into the interconnectedness and the implications of global business and supply chains in both developing and developed countries."
