The 22nd annual Roundtable for Engineering Entrepreneurship Research (REER) Conference, hosted at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business by the Strategy and Innovation academic area, provided a forum for researchers from around the world to explore the intersections between science, talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship. On November 1 and 2, the conference brought together leading scholars and experts who examined a range of compelling topics.
"REER offers a forum where leading scholars can share insights on the evolving relationship between science, industry, and entrepreneurship. It was rewarding to see thoughtful exchanges that will hopefully inform both ongoing research and practical applications in the field,” said Alex Oettl, Dean’s Distinguished Term Professorship, professor of Strategy and Innovation, and chief organizer of the event.
Key areas of focus included examining the commercial potential of cutting-edge scientific discoveries, analyzing the evolving dynamics between industry and academia, and assessing the far-reaching impacts of transformative technologies like AI, as well as the influence of broader geopolitical forces on research and labor markets.
The diversity of expertise and backgrounds represented at the REER Conference enabled participants to gain novel, cross-disciplinary understandings of the interplay between scientific research and the rapidly changing global landscape. Those attending the conference left with a renewed sense of inspiration and a deeper appreciation for the pivotal role that this intersection of domains plays in shaping the future of innovation and economic development worldwide.
