The People of Scheller x NCR

Jay Arcement

Evening MBA, '16
Senior Product Manager of Innovation & Integration, NCR

“Having Scheller so close to our global headquarters has been an amazing resource for NCR recruitment and experiential learning opportunities. I have had the pleasure of speaking to Scheller MBA classes on-campus, as well as having them tour our NCR offices. This gives the students an idea of what we do at NCR, what career opportunities are available, and provides NCR direct access to top talent and resources. In my experience with these relationships, I have personally brought on one Scheller MBA hire to my team, plus several interns via this channel. The ability to grab a quick coffee here locally in Midtown, Atlanta, with a prospective student provides a level of access and constant contact that enables NCR to establish lasting, strategic partnerships with Scheller MBA students and alumni.”

"It’s safe to say that NCR was not on my radar for future employment prior to my time at Scheller. As an undergraduate, I slowly became more aware of what the organization did, and there were two key events that caused me to finally apply for an internship after my junior year.

While taking my core HR curricula with Dr. Saba Colakoglu, Tony Burdett spoke as a guest lecturer when we were learning about hiring and talent development. Tony and I met at the close of that class. This was my first human connection with the brand. If you know Tony, you know how welcoming he is. I was officially curious!

Next, came encouragement from one of Scheller’s power brokers: Stan Broome. The design of his career development course created an adventurous environment to explore many different career paths. Stan’s intentional input led me to an information session that gave me access to the last round of NCR interviews prior to the catalyst of a global pandemic. Fortuitous to say the least."

“I worked at NCR before coming to Scheller, and the closeness of the school played a major role in my decision to apply to the Evening MBA program. I already knew I liked working in Tech Square, and I came to appreciate the proximity of the Scheller College of Business to so many other business connections.

Before applying to Scheller, I saw the way NCR interacted with the college’s dataanalytics practicum. I eventually chose to focus my MBA studies on the data analytics concentration. Now, as I continue to work at NCR, I get to see Scheller students come for internships and full-time positions. I have personally worked alongside several Scheller interns and alumni and appreciate the well-established network Scheller has with Tech Square businesses."

"I was born and raised in Atlanta, and I am so excited to see the city becoming a hub for technology and innovation. As a business student, I wanted to use my degree to help facilitate these advances close to home. NCR is such a storied, well-known company, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to their mission and strategy by using the knowledge I gained from Scheller during my undergraduate career.

I connected to NCR via the Georgia Tech All-Majors Career Fair, but I chose to pursue an internship at NCR specifically because of how involved the company is with the Scheller community. I had many friends and acquaintances in Scheller that had previously interned with NCR and spoke very highly of their experience with the program. Once I completed my internship at GHQ in Summer 2021, I knew that NCR was a great place to work and was fortunate enough to receive an offer to come back full-time."
