Victoria Dean is enrolled in a dual-degree MBA/Ph.D. program at Georgia Tech, a joint-offering between Scheller College of Business and Tech's College of Engineering.

Victoria Dean left her job as a petroleum engineer to further her education.

Concerned with inequities in education and the role that limited access to clean water plays in environmental health and safety for disparaged communities, she knew that a doctorate was necessary to be regarded as forward-thinker to bring about change in education, and that an MBA was key to understanding the root of the global water and sanitation issues she wanted to tackle.

Dean chose to enroll in the dual-degree MBA/Ph.D. program at Georgia Tech, which allows students to combine a Scheller College of Business MBA with a master’s or Ph.D. within Tech’s Colleges of Computing, Design, or Engineering, and is an MBA Sustainability Fellow.

Dean, who is currently working in a lab on campus to research and solve global water and sanitation issues, says she has no regrets about putting her career on hold to pursue the joint program.
