EXCEL isn’t just a program—it’s a community.

EXCEL Game Night hosted by Sarah & David Gabriel

Sarah Gabriel, founder of In Good Company, spent some of her time working with the EXCEL program during her Graduate Research Assistant role with the Institute for Leadership and Social Impact.  During this time, she played a key role in strengthening the alumni community, served as a guest lecturer, and guided seniors through their career development courses. Her involvement did not stop after graduation—she chose to continue supporting the program, helping ensure that the bonds formed within it last well beyond the university experience. Reflecting on this lasting connection, Sarah shared, "The university experience feels like it will last forever while you're in it, but graduation comes faster than you'd think. Some connections naturally fade, but others become lifelong bonds—which I’ve found through the EXCEL alumni group."

Sarah describes the warm, welcoming atmosphere at every EXCEL alumni reunion: "No matter how much time passes between our reunions, the energy is always the same: enthusiastic welcomes, thoughtful conversations, and a shared sense of belonging that makes the busy world seem to pause for a moment."
Recently, Sarah and her husband, David, hosted an alumni game night in their home, calling it "the highlight of our week." When asked why they continue to stay involved with the group, David responded with a smile, "Have you met this group? How could you not?"

This event, like many others, provides EXCEL alumni with a safe space to reconnect, fostering a sense of community that encourages growth in all areas of life. As Sarah eloquently puts it, “EXCEL isn’t just a program—it’s a community that enriches lives long after graduation.”

The EXCEL Alumni Program celebrates the importance of relationships and continued inclusion by inviting alumni mentors and community partners to participate in events and contribute to the ongoing success of the group. Through this vibrant community, alumni can continue to thrive, fostering lasting bonds that extend well beyond their time at Georgia Tech.
