Robert Thomas, Professor of the Practice in Organizational Behavior at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, has received a Fulbright Specialist Program award from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Thomas will complete a project around peace engineering at the Technical University of Kosice in the Slovak Republic, expanding the institution’s capacity to address the vast needs during and after the Ukrainian conflict. Thomas’ project also aims to create a model that can be replicated at other universities in the region.
“I am honored to receive this award and look forward to working with friends and colleagues in Slovakia, Ukraine, and Georgia Tech on this project,” said Thomas. “The success of the project will be measured by the improved quality of the lives of those impacted by the conflict in Ukraine and increased cooperation between academia, government, business, and the NGO community.”
Thomas is one of over 400 U.S. citizens who share expertise with host institutions abroad through the Fulbright Specialist Program each year. Fulbrighters address critical global issues in all disciplines, while building relationships, knowledge, and leadership in support of the long-term interests of the U.S.
“It is my hope that this project will demonstrate the impact of committed individuals and organizations working together to create a more just, caring and sustainable environment,” said Thomas.
