The Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business was named the 2023 Collegiate Partner of the Year by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) for the second consecutive year.
Every fall, the Atlanta Chapter of the NBMBAA hosts a reception recognizing corporate and educational partners and awarding scholarships to undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. business students.
In addition to Scheller being awarded Collegiate Partner of the Year, two Scheller MBA students received scholarships at the reception. Charles Fatunbi, Evening MBA ‘24, and Mel Tobias Executive MBA ‘24, were awarded the 2023 Masters Scholarship sponsored by Delta Air Lines.
“I am honored to receive a scholarship and credit NBMBAA for stirring an unfulfilled dream to get my MBA,” said Tobias. “When I attended the NBMBAA Conference in Atlanta last year, I reconnected with Georgia Tech (I was a Georgia Tech Focus Scholar in 2014) and became interested in pursuing my MBA degree. Since joining NBMBAA, I have met incredible people, participated in professional development, and attended a women’s conference in New York City with my daughter.”
Scheller has partnered with the organization on several initiatives and is a financial sponsor for NBMBAA scholarships. The College has partnered with the Atlanta chapter to host a forum for representatives of Georgia MBA programs, and Scheller’s Blacks in Business Club regularly hosts panel discussions for students to prepare for the career fair at the annual NBMBAA Conference.
“This scholarship has not only assisted me with the cost of tuition but has also enhanced my MBA experience,” said Fatunbi. “The scholarship allowed me to attend professional development conferences and enabled me to fund my study abroad experience in Tanzania. I am grateful to the NBMBAA and Scheller for providing opportunities like this for students to maximize their MBA experience. I'm honored to be recognized and can't wait to pay it forward!”
