The Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, an educational leader at the intersection of business and technology, is launching a new online Business Analytics Graduate Certificate with classes starting in Spring 2023. The program represents the first credit-earning online credential offered by the College. Coursework in the program is designed to expand knowledge and understanding of data in business. Select credits earned can ultimately be applied toward the Georgia Tech Full-time MBA, Evening MBA, or Online Master’s in Analytics programs.
“This new certificate will cultivate professionals who can meet the demands of today’s data-driven business world, elevating them in their chosen careers. The courses offered leverage our College’s strength and expertise in business analytics, and our faculty will bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience into their online classrooms,” said Dean Maryam Alavi.
The certificate consists of four courses taught by Scheller’s renowned faculty. The courses are 100% online and taught in an asynchronous, seven-week executive format, allowing students to take up to two courses each semester. This allows professionals the flexibility to complete certificates at their own pace while accommodating work, life, and other commitments.
Scheller has partnered with Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE), a leader in online education and lifetime learning, to design courses for online delivery, administer the program, and provide student services. GTPE has served the learning needs of working professionals and industry partners across the globe for over 100 years.
“Today’s workplaces need agile thinkers who can keep up with technology and navigate the changes it brings to their fields,” said Nelson Baker, dean of Professional Education. “Requiring less time and money than a master's degree, graduate certificates offer a flexible opportunity for working professionals to further their education, improve their job prospects, and thrive in their careers.”
The Business Analytics Graduate Certificate teaches professionals actionable skills to improve organizational effectiveness through data analysis, machine learning tools, and more. It also provides professionals with opportunities for career growth, tools for career pivots, and help in reaching entrepreneurial goals. Students join a robust online community where they can build a global network spanning a wide range of industries and functions.
“This certificate will help students learn the key strategies necessary to extract information from the vast amounts of data generated by businesses in today’s world,” said Robbie Moon, who teaches the Analysis of Unstructured Data course for the certificate. “The coursework covers the full analytics cycle, from transforming messy and often unstructured data into analyzable datasets to applying sophisticated techniques — like those related to machine learning and natural language processing. This allows professionals to maximize insights and make more informed decisions.”
