Though the Yellow Jackets did not fare well at Homecoming, Scheller College students James Ni (BSBA 2019) and Hannah Todd (BSBA 2018) won big as they were crowned 2018 Mr. and Ms. Georgia Tech.
“I wanted to go out for the nomination of Mr. Georgia Tech because of my love for this school and the students here,” said Ni, a business administration major and Steven A. Denning Technology & Management (T&M) Program participant who is active in many student organizations on campus, including Scheller Business Ambassadors. “I was in shock, I was excited, but most of all, I was proud. Georgia Tech has truly shown me that this community is such a special place.”
The crowning topped an eventful Homecoming Weekend for Todd, who one day earlier met Ernest J. Scheller Jr. (IM 1952, HON Ph.D. 2013) – the College’s namesake. “He was so friendly and humble, and I am glad we could show him the Ramblin’ Wreck,” said Todd.
Todd, who graduates in December, is only the fourth woman to drive the iconic Wreck — a 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe -- onto the field at Bobby Dodd before each home game. “I love Georgia Tech with all my heart and being able to represent such a phenomenal place is beyond humbling,” Todd continued, who was nominated for the crown by peers in the Ramblin’ Wreck Club. “I’m still speechless.”
It is not known, however, who took over for Todd at the wheel as the pair rode off-field after they took the reign.
