Scott has been solving technical and business challenges for his entire career. Starting as a software developer with an emphasis on database and mapping applications, his responsibilities have weaved their way through interface design, online product management, product marketing, and digital marketing.

He founded BigFish Consulting after a career split between agency- and brand-side roles. Scott has held technical and marketing roles within Fortune 500 brands, Internet Retailer 100 retailers, and bootstrap start-ups. As a hands-on leader, Scott has managed teams and complex multi-million-dollar projects with great success.

Scott was first exposed to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) before it was a discipline in the early days of search engines. He then used this knowledge to manage the strategy and direction of SEO efforts for The Home Depot where he was SEO staff member #1 and built out the 14-person SEO team overseeing homedepot.com and all other online properties. Through his team’s efforts, organic traffic to homedepot.com more than tripled and converted at more than 2x previous rates from 2009 to 2013.

Scott is an avid world traveler and enjoys hiking, biking, and camping.  He often is joined on his adventures by his 2 children. He holds a B.S. in Management Science from Georgia Tech.
