Rationale and Scope
In an effort to strengthen the impact of the Institute for Leadership and Social Impact (ILSI), several competitive research grants are being offered. These awards aim to enhance the professional journey of faculty members or PhD students by supporting significant opportunities in the leadership and/or social impact space that are consistent with the mission of ILSI. Activities supported by this research award may include, but are not limited to: research expenses, bringing researchers, graduate students, or postdoctoral students to campus to collaborate, or research-related travel.
Criteria
Faculty
These awards are available to Scheller affiliated tenure track faculty members, academic professionals, and lecturers whose work is related to the mission of promoting servant leadership and organizational practices that contribute to a more just, caring, and sustainable world. Eligible applicants must have a minimum of two years of Georgia Tech employment and priority will be given to those who have not received an ILSI Research Award in the previous two years. Applications will be evaluated based on the relatedness to our mission of promoting servant leadership and organizational practices that contribute to a more just, caring, and sustainable world, significance of the leadership opportunity, and potential impact on the faculty member's career, and ILSI. A maximum of $5,000 per award will be dispersed, and applications for partial awards are encouraged.
Student
These awards are available to Scheller affiliated post docs and PhD students and the topic of their research must be related to the mission of the Institute for Leadership and Social Impact. First year students are not eligible, and preference will be given to those who have passed their comprehensive exams. Students must have a support letter from a faculty member who will act as the advisor. Please upload the support letter at the time of application in Qualtrics or submit by email to Amber Slyter (amber.slyter@ilsi.gatech.edu). A maximum of $3,000 per award will be dispersed, and applications for partial awards are encouraged. Priority will be given to those who have not received an ILSI Research Award in the previous two years.

Late applications will not be accepted unless unspent funds remain (ILSI will announce if and when that happens, and potential applicants can make inquiries). Funds will be dispersed for FY25 unless use in FY24 is requested at the time of the application. For questions regarding the process and proposal status, please contact Amber Slyter at amber.slyter@ilsi.gatech.edu.
Post-Approval and Reporting
After approval, the award will be disbursed to the faculty member or student’s department to facilitate their expenses in accordance with Georgia Tech policies. The awardee or administrative team is responsible for keeping an organized list of expenses to send to Amber Slyter once funds have been utilized. The recipient of the award is kindly requested to provide a summary (less than 250 words) outlining the impactful contributions of the award to their research endeavors. Additionally, any relevant visuals or images may be included and submitted along with the summary to Amber Slyter at amber.slyter@ilsi.gatech.edu within 30 days of funding being utilized.
