Faculty Director's Message

March 22, 2013

I am privileged to serve as the new Faculty Director of the Steven A. Denning Technology & Management (T&M) Program. My predecessors, Dr. Mark Ferguson and Dr. Stylianos Kavadias, along with the leadership of Dr. Linda Oldham, have helped build the program to be among the most prestigious at Georgia Tech. Our team, Jennifer Blount, Anne Lynch, Dr. Oldham, Sheena Richards, and I, look forward to the exciting future that lies ahead for the program.

Both minors offered by the program – Engineering and Management, and Computing and Management – continue to equip the best students at Georgia Tech with the academic training and professional skills to pave their paths to corporate leadership. We thank our corporate affiliates for being integral partners in enabling our program’s continuing success. We recently welcomed Elavon as our newest corporate affiliate, bringing the total number of affiliates to 10, including Boeing, Capital One, Caterpillar, Equifax, Georgia Pacific, Home Depot, Interface, Siemens, and Unum. Currently, 20 T&M students have accepted job or internship offers with our Corporate Affiliates, and this number is expected to increase. On an exciting note, the program is offering the class of 2014 the first ever global T&M capstone project with Caterpillar’s facility in Tianjin, China.

I warmly welcome our recently-admitted class of 2015. We received a record number of 255 applications this year (a 46% increase over the last year) constituting a pool of top-notch student talent. The admitted class (59 students) has an average GPA of 3.72, spans 11 Georgia Tech disciplines, and speaks 10 foreign languages.

In maintaining our culture of excellence, we continue to seek and incorporate feedback from our corporate affiliates, program faculty, capstone project faculty advisors, and students on the program’s curriculum and activities. I look forward to working with all stakeholders of the T&M Program in enabling Georgia Tech to be on the leading edge of the intersections of Technology and Management.
