The creation of new academic programs is always challenging, especially when it is interdisciplinary. Creating the T&M program here at Georgia Tech has been a consuming activity involving many people, but it has also been a pleasure thanks to the generosity of Steven Denning, who provided the critical initial funding to start the program and the tremendous support of our corporate affiliates, program faculty and staff.
The ultimate success of this program will primarily depend on three things: high quality corporate affiliates, stellar faculty and classes and outstanding students.
The program offers an innovative curriculum, team-based interdisciplinary projects, and the resources of an array of corporate leaders and Georgia Tech professors. Students enter the program at the start of their junior year and pursue a prescribed course of study while satisfying requirements for a bachelor’s degree in their engineering or management major.
We have the opportunity to create something very special. The program is small compared to the size of the Georgia Tech, but we have the potential to make an impact on the basic ideas behind undergraduate education. I look forward to working with you on this exciting endeavor. It is an honor to be a part of this great program.
