Undergraduate Profile - Michael Warwick

October 2008

When Michael Warwick interviewed for an internship at the Securities and Exchange Commission for summer 2008, he noticed that SEC officials were particularly impressed by the high-tech business perspective he was gaining as a management major.

"I felt like that said a lot for Georgia Tech's business school,” says Warwick, who won a competitive internship in the SEC’s Office of Examination. "It's an exciting time to be here. I think the value of the degree will continue to appreciate greatly over the next 10 to 20 years."

Lifelong Interest

Holder of a President’s Scholarship, Tech’s premier merit-based award, Warwick knew he wanted to major in business as a freshman because of his lifelong interest in finance. "Even at an early age, I liked to sit around and talk about the stock market with my dad," says the 21-year-old native of Marshall, Texas.

After graduation in spring 2009, Warwick plans to attend a top law school. He wants to combine his business and legal interests with a career in the field of securities law. Taking the Business Law class at Tech really opened his eyes to the possibilities.

"I've taken some outstanding classes taught by fascinating professors," Warwick says. "Some of these classes have definitely been a tremendous challenge — just as hard as anything at Tech."
