General Management Concentration

General Management Concentration Students pursuing professional graduate schools (like medicine or law) or students considering opening or expanding a small business after graduation may want to consider the General Management concentration. All other students should complete one of the other concentrations. Recruiters continually inform our College that they want students to graduate with a broad understanding of business and a thorough understanding of at least one area of business.

The General Management concentration does not provide the depth in one concentration that most employers seek. This is why it is best for students who do not plan to practice business immediately (like those continuing on to medical or law school) or those who will immediately open or expand a business after graduation. Students must earn at least a grade of “C” in all courses for a concentration.

In order to satisfy the requirements for the General Management concentration, students finish all Management core classes (similar to all Management majors) and complete 18 credits (six courses) of advanced management coursework in the following fashion:

1. Complete five courses from five different clusters listed below.
2. Complete one course from any cluster. This last course can be from one of the clusters in which one of the first five courses was completed.
