Georgia Tech’s Spring 2014 IMPACT Speaker Series will kick off with Derek Smith, founder and chairman of GivingPoint and The Game of Golf Institute, on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Smith, whose lecture is titled "A Human Renaissance in a Technology-driven World,” will speak at 4:30 p.m. in LeCraw Auditorium of the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business (800 West Peachtree Street).
Free and open to the public, the IMPACT series brings notable business executives, high-tech entrepreneurs, and intellectual leaders to the College.
Smith founded GivingPoint in an attempt to provide a mechanism to stimulate youth to understand the world around them, nurture their passions, create strong bonds, and take action to effect long-lasting change.
GivingPoint is a nationwide community-based youth development organization that inspires a passion for learning and service through cutting edge technology resources, virtual educational modules, and hands-on volunteer opportunities.
Smith is the former Chairman and CEO of ChoicePoint, a leading provider of decision-making technology and information and a recognized leader in corporate citizenship, information security and personal privacy protection.
The IMPACT series is sponsored by the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship. For the full Spring 2014 lineup, visit the IMPACT Website.
