Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business has named Beril Toktay, professor of operations management, as holder of the Brady Family Chair. "Beril is a preeminent scholar in the field of sustainable operations management," says Dean Steve Salbu.

"She is one of the pioneers in this research area, and her early work is frequently cited," he adds. "I'm so proud to count as a colleague a scholar of Beril's intellect, stature, accomplishments, and professional commitment."

The Brady Family Chair was made possible by the generosity of alumnus Charlie Brady, IM 1957, who also funded creation of the College's INVESCO Chair in International Finance.

Toktay joined the faculty of the College in 2005 and later earned the Nancy J. and Lawrence P. Huang term professorship. Her research has won multiple awards, including the College's 2010 Brady Family Award for Research Excellence.

Toktay's research has won several National Science Foundation grants as well as first prize in the 2005 and 2006 Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Wickham best unpublished paper competitions. Her research articles have appeared in numerous leading journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), Production and Operations Management, Operations Research, and Industrial Ecology.

She serves as area editor (environment, energy and sustainability) for Operations Research, and co-editor of M&SOM's Special Issue on the Environment. She serves as associate editor for Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and as senior editor for Production and Operations Management.

She is president of the M&SOM Society and the vice president of the POM Society. At Georgia Tech, she serves as the Scheller College of Business ADVANCE Professor, a role that is focused on supporting the advancement of women in academia. She currently teaches Business Strategies for Sustainability to MBA students.
