Georgia Tech College of Management’s IMPACT Speaker Series will feature Steven Labovitz, a partner with McKenna, Long & Aldridge LLP and the City of Atlanta's former chief of staff, on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Labovitz, whose lecture is titled "The Critical Role of Public-Private Partnerships in Atlanta’s Past, Present and Future," will speak at 4:30 p.m. in LeCraw Auditorium of the College of Management (800 West Peachtree Street).

Steven Labovitz focuses on government affairs at a local, state, and federal level. He specializes in legislative action, economic development, public finance and privatization and has extensive experience in formulating public/private partnerships for companies that have business issues with the government sector and governments that are interested in privatization or outsourcing governmental tasks.

In addition, Labovitz has worked in the area of land use and has been instrumental in working with governments and developers in creating tax incentives for large development projects including establishing tax allocation districts in order to create and implement public/private partnerships.

Prior to McKenna Long & Aldridge, Labovitz served as a chief of staff for the City of Atlanta from 1994 to 1997. Generally regarded as having bought business acumen and organization to Atlanta’s City Hall, he was instrumental in the redevelopment of the downtown business district. He is noted as the architect of the financial and business terms leading to the $141 million Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta, where an additional $72 million in public improvements were associated with the arena.

Free and open to the public, the IMPACT Series brings notable business executives, high-tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and intellectual leaders to the College.
