Widely recognized for excellence in teaching and research, faculty members of Georgia Tech College of Management continue to raise the business school's profile through their professional activities and honors. Staff performance also continues to reflect well on the College. In recent months:
  • Eric Overby, assistant professor of information technology management, won the 2011 CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Award. "Eric is an outstanding teacher and highly deserving of being the first College of Management educator to receive this honor in nearly 20 years," says College of Management Dean Steve Salbu. "In addition to his passion for teaching and innovative educational approach, Eric regularly goes above and beyond in his service to the Georgia Tech community.
  • Lindsay Green, an academic advisor in the College of Management's Undergraduate Program Office, won the Institute-wide 2011 Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advisor Award. "Lindsay was selected for this award due to the strong letters of support submitted by her advisees and her excellent work on enhancing our readmission process, improving the retention rate of and support for readmitted students, and expanding our Website so students have more access to advising, certificate and registration information," says Nancy Gimbel, director of the Undergraduate Program Office.
  • Matt Higgins, the Imlay assistant professor of strategic management, received a $387,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study "Estimating the Impact of Accelerated Generic Entry on Consumer Welfare and Innovation in the Pharmaceutical Industry."
  • Ajay Kohli, professor of marketing and the Gary T. and Elizabeth R. Jones Chair, was inducted as an ISBM (Institute for the Study of Business Markets) Fellow, a honor that has been bestowed on only a select number of marketing scholars to date.
  • Deborah Turner, the A.J. and Lynne Land associate professor of accounting, won the Women of Distinction award from the Women’s Leadership Conference.
  • Frank Rothaermel, the Angel and Stephen M. Deedy professor of strategic management, was appointed chair of the "Value Creation through Collaborative Public-Private Interaction" track of the Strategic Management Society.
  • The College of Management received a donation from SAP totaling $180,000 for work related to "IT and Intangible Assets" by Chris Forman, the Robert and Stevie Schmidt associate professor of information technology management, and D.J. Wu, the Thomas R. Williams-Wachovia associate professor of information technology management. Wu also was appointed as an associate editor of Manufacturing and Service Operations Management.
  • Mark Ferguson, the John and Wendi Wells associate professor of operations management and the Steven A. Denning professor of Technology & Management, is president-elect of the POMS Supply Chain College, chair-elect of the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section, and vice president-elect of meetings for the Manufacturing and Service Operations Management society. He also recently served as co-editor of a special issue of the Production and Operations Management journal on New Product Development, Innovation and Sustainability.
