Georgia Tech College of Management's first annual MBA Golf Classic brought together students and alumni who competed April 23 at East Lake Golf Club.
Sponsored by Southern Company and the PGA Tour, the student-organized event was designed to team business leaders with students interested in their particular fields. Twenty-nine students and 12 alumni participated, with proceeds from registration fees benefiting projects of the MBA Philanthropy Club, including sending students to New Orleans to help rebuild homes.
MBA student Bethany Davis, who helped organize the event, says she looks forward to the return of the MBA Golf Classic next spring. "The Golf Classic provides an opportunity for our current and future leaders to interact in a unique setting," she says. "Our vision is that, through a round of golf, we can create an engaging, high-purpose experience to be enjoyed by students and alumni for years to come."
The MBA Golf Classic included lunch and a cocktail reception. Dan Radakovich, director of athletics for Georgia Tech, spoke at the opening ceremony, discussing the importance of such events and how they bring together students and alumni for the cause of mentoring and philanthropy.
