Eight Faculty Members Awarded Term Professorships This Spring

Published on:

Georgia Tech College of Management has awarded term professorships to eight more faculty members.

Designed to help retain and recruit promising faculty members, these professorships (each requiring $100,000 to $150,000 in funding) last for terms of up to four years.

Faculty members honored with these professorships (which are named for the donors or their designees) can use the support for summer research, graduate student research assistance, travel to conferences, high-tech equipment, and professional development activities.

In 2007, the College secured gifts and commitments for the establishment of 23 professorships (13 of which were awarded to professors last year). Earlier this year, the College added a 24th professorship, the Sue and John Staton Professorship in Business Law. This position will be held by new faculty member Lucien Dhooge, who will join the College this summer.

Existing faculty members received the other seven professorships:

The term professorships serve as an important bridge to the future as the College seeks to establish 20 more endowed faculty chairs and professorships.
