Unlike a lot of entering freshmen, Chinedu Ezeamuzie knew exactly what kind of career path he wanted to follow when he started at Georgia Tech.

"From the beginning, I knew that I wanted to go into marketing," says Ezeamuzie, who will start his senior year in the fall. "It's the side of business that most allows my creativity to run wild. I'm very interested in advertising and brand management."

A singer/songwriter who regularly performs with his guitar on campus, Ezeamuzie has been running his own Web development company for several years, designing sites for local small businesses. His income from the company, called Arinze Design, has helped him pay for college expenses not covered by various scholarships and grants.

Ezeamuzie, who followed in his older brother's footsteps by enrolling at Tech as a management major, says he's been impressed by the high quality of his fellow students, some of whom share his entrepreneurial bent. "I have several friends here who've started their own businesses as well," he says.

First-rate Faculty

He's even more pleased with his marketing professors. "They really know the field and are passionate about it," Ezeamuzie says. "They deliver an excellent learning experience. We also hear a lot of guest lecturers who are on the cutting edge."

In spring 2008, Georgia Tech's Office of Minority Education Development recognized Ezeamuzie for his academic excellence with a silver Tower Award.

A Nigerian who grew up in Kuwait, where his parents still live, Ezeamuzie is spending the summer in Atlanta, completing a 12-week product-development internship with Siemens. The job is giving him the opportunity to examine the viability of the company's various products in different markets.

Ezeamuzie, who's been grateful for the personalized career services offered by the College of Management's Undergraduate Office, hopes that his Siemens internship will lead to a full-time job with the company when he graduates in May 2009. "A few years after that, I plan to earn an MBA, most likely at Georgia Tech. The school is always first on my list."
