Ajay Kohli, who just joined Georgia Tech College of Management as the Gary T. and Elizabeth R. Jones Chair holder, recently became editor of the prestigious Journal of Marketing.
"His accomplishments and stature are a tremendous addition to our growing world-class faculty," says College of Management Dean Steve Salbu.
Associate Dean Goutam Challagalla, who leads the school's marketing faculty group, adds that Kohli's editorship of the Journal of Marketing is a tremendous achievement, calling it perhaps the "most significant academic honor our school as ever had."
The premier publication for marketing academic professionals, the Journal of Marketing covers research related to all aspects of marketing, from advertising, sales, and pricing to brand management, distribution, and ethics. The journal bridges the gap between marketing theory and practical application for the marketing community.
Through the years, Kohli has won wide recognition for his research, including several "best paper" honors from top journals. He studies market orientation, customer solutions, market signaling, customer relationships, sales management, brand management, and organizational buying.
Winner of numerous teaching awards, Kohli previously served on the faculty of Emory University, where he was the Isaac Stiles Hopkins Chair in Marketing. He also has taught at Harvard Business School and The University of Texas-Austin.
Kohli has six years of experience working in industry, mostly in sales and distribution management and marketing strategy consulting. He has consulted with such companies as 3M, Accenture, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, Eastman Kodak, Halliburton, IBM, Shell, Texas Instruments, and the World Bank. In addition, he has led numerous executive education seminars in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
