Two faculty members as well as the TI:GER® program of the College of Management at Georgia Tech have recently gained important recognition.
Professor Malhotra Receives "Lifetime" Marketing Prize
The Academy of Marketing Science recently announced Naresh Malhotra as the 2005 recipient of its Outstanding Marketing Educator of the Year.
Malhotra, Regents' professor of marketing, will receive the award during the AMS National Conference May 25-28 in Tampa. The highest honor bestowed by AMS, the award recognizes contributions to research, teaching, and service over an extended period. "It's based on a lifetime of accomplishments," says Malhotra, who joined the College of Management's faculty in 1979. "I'm very pleased to receive such a big honor."
A past president of AMS and chairman of its board of governors, Malhotra has published more than 89 papers in major refereed journals. His textbook, Marketing Research: An Applied Orientation, is used by more than 144 schools in the United States as well as internationally.
The Academy of Marketing Science is an international scholarly professional organization dedicated to promoting high standards and excellence in the creation and dissemination of marketing knowledge around the world.
"TI:GER" Burning Bright
The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and Students for Free Enterprise recently recognized Georgia Tech's Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results (TI:GER) program as a 2005 National Model Specialty Program in Entrepreneurship.
Housed in the College of Management, TI:GER is a collaboration between various Georgia Tech colleges and the Emory University School of Law that brings together law, economics, management, science, and engineering graduates students in the classroom and research lab. Together they learn how to advance early-stage research into real business opportunities. Marie Thursby, professor of strategic management at Georgia Tech, is the executive director of TI:GER.
Kavadias Joins Editorial Board
Stelios Kavadias, assistant professor of operations management, has been invited to join the editorial board of Decision Sciences.
A quarterly professional journal, Decision Sciences publishes the latest in computer technology, mathematical and statistical techniques, and behavioral science. Kavadias's research focuses on new product development.
