Recent Faculty Recognitions Include Best Paper Prize, Grants

Marketing professor Goutam Challagalla

• Marketing professor Goutam Challagalla recently won the 2005 Best Theoretical/Empirical Paper Award from the Decision Sciences Institute. Honored for the paper "The Impact of Simulation Training on Call Center Agent Performance: A Field-Based Investigation," Challagalla received the award November 22 at the Institute's 2005 Annual Meeting in San Francisco. One of the paper's co-authors is Leslie Vincent, who earned her doctorate from the College of Management in May 2005 and is now a marketing assistant professor at the University of Kentucky.

• Leonard Parsons, professor of marketing science, and Koert van Ittersum, assistant professor of marketing, recently received a one-year $150,000 grant from John Deere to study "The Acceptance of Technologies" in collaboration with Georgia Tech's School of Psychology.

• Accounting professors Bryan Church and Arnold Schneider were selected to head research project teams under the auspices of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, which sets auditing standards as a result of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. Schneider's project will provide input into the development of the new standard for Engagement Quality Review mandated by Sarbanes-Oxley. Church's project examines auditors' responsibilities and reports.

• Regents' professor of marketing Naresh Malhotra's 2001 paper, "Marketing Research in the New Millenium: Emerging Issues and Trends," was recently honored as one of the Emerald LiteratiNetwork's Top 50 Most Downloaded Articles ever.

• Finance professor Cheol Eun's book International Financial Management was recently published in a Chinese language version by the China Machine Press.

• Ravi Subramanian, assistant professor of operations management, recently received a $5,000 grant from the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the research proposal, "Viable and Environmentally Favorable Product Design through Supply Chain Coordination under Extended Producer Responsibility."

• Jason Kuang, assistant professor of accounting, received a $3,000 grant from the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to study the effect of disclosure on conflicts of interest in the financial services industry.
