Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business is ranked 8th in Corporate Knights magazine’s Global 100 Sustainable MBA rankings for our success at integrating sustainability into the school experience.

For this year’s ranking, Corporate Knights examined the top 100 programs listed in the Financial Times 2013 Global MBA ranking, determining which best-prioritized sustainability through curriculum choices, dedicated institutes and centers, and relevant faculty research.

“The Corporate Knights ranking reflects our commitment to a world-class approach to business school education in relation to sustainability,” says Operations Management Professor and Brady Family Chairholder Beril Toktay, who is faculty director of Scheller College’s Center for Business Strategies for Sustainability (CBSS).

“CBSS supports developing curriculum, student opportunities, and faculty research that address some of the most pressing challenges – and opportunities – facing business.”

The creation of CBSS was made possible in early 2013 through a $750,000 grant from the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, followed by a $300,000 grant from the Kendeda Fund.

Scheller Professor of the Practice Howard Connell, who is managing director of CBSS, says, “We look forward to expanding our work over time and partnering with faculty, companies, students, alumni, and others to build a sustainable and vibrant future.”

In addition to Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, the other U.S. schools ranked in the top 10 of the Global 100 Sustainable MBA are Harvard, Yale, the University of Michigan, and George Washington University.

Since 2003, Corporate Knights has aimed to rank MBA programs on how holistically they have integrated sustainability into the learning process. At first, only programs within Canada were ranked. But last year, the list was expanded to include institutions from around the world.

Analysis of 2014 Global 100 Sustainable MBA ranking is summarized in the Fall 2014 issue of Corporate Knights or on its Website.

“Our mission, quite simply, is to build on the Financial Times ranking by determining which of the top schools in the world are focused on the intersection of business and sustainability,” says Corporate Knights Managing Editor Jeremy Runnalls.
