First Data's Mark Herrington will discuss "Universal Commerce for Today’s Connected Consumer" on Wed. September 26 in Georgia Tech's IMPACT Speaker Series.
Herrington, executive vice president of global product management and innovation at First Data, will speak at 4:30 p.m. in LeCraw Auditorium of the Scheller College of Business (800 West Peachtree Street). His lecture is free and open to the public.
Organized by Georgia Tech's Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, the IMPACT Series brings notable business executives, high-tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and intellectual leaders to the College.
Herrington has a wealth of experience with product innovation in high-growth, technology-focused environments, and he is using this experience to help First Data develop products and solutions that can be distributed globally. First Data focuses on making it easy, fast, and secure for people and businesses to buy goods and services using virtually any form of electronic payment.
"Today’s consumers have information at their fingertips 24/7. They rely on social media, online offers and tools, and input from various mobile channels to help them make smart buying decisions," Herrington explains. "As shopping and buying evolve, Universal Commerce is beginning to replace the multi-channel model popular today. Mobile apps will serve as the hub powering this new era of commerce – bridging the virtual and physical worlds for a seamless shopping experience. You are at the center of this revolution in commerce."
