Professor Turner’s research interests are in the areas of financial reporting and managerial decision making using cost-based information. She has published articles in a variety of journals including Management Accounting, Accounting Horizons, Advances in Taxation, Journal of Applied Business Research, and Issues in Accounting Education. She has twice received the AWSCPA Literary Award for outstanding contributions to the accounting literature.
Professor Turner has also been recognized for her teaching. She has been the recipient of AWSCPA’s Educator of the Year award, the Georgia Society of CPAs’ Accounting Educator of the Year award, the Hesburgh Teaching Fellowship, and the Class of 1940 W. Roane Beard Outstanding Teacher award from Georgia Tech. In addition, she has received multiple teaching awards from the Undergraduate Program, Evening MBA Program, and both Executive MBA Programs in the Scheller College of Business.
Professor Turner is an active member of a number of professional organizations including the American Institute of CPAs, the Georgia Society of CPAs, and the American Accounting Association. She is Past-President of the Atlanta Chapter of Financial Executives International and Past-President of the Georgia Affiliate of the American Woman’s Society of CPAs. In addition, she has served as a consultant and executive educator to a number of firms including Cisco, General Electric, Hewlett-Packard, McKesson, Siemens, and Southern Company.
