Biography

Howard Connell joined the Scheller College of Business as Professor of the Practice of Sustainable Business in 2013. He also serves as Managing Director of the Center for Business Strategies for Sustainability. In these roles, Professor Connell teaches sustainable business consulting project courses in the undergraduate and MBA programs and leads many facets of the Center, including educational initiative and student career opportunity development; industry outreach, partnership development and fundraising; and center management.

Professor Connell joined the Scheller College of Business faculty after serving as Global Sustainability Leader at Kimberly-Clark. Prior to Kimberly-Clark Professor Connell spent 6 years with A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm, where he contributed to developing the firm’s intellectual capital, frameworks, and points of view for its emerging North American sustainability practice. Prior to graduate school, he worked at an investment management firm where he led the design and implementation of the Sierra Club mutual funds, which tracked the S&P 500 after screening out stocks that failed to meet specific environmental criteria.

A native of Atlanta and committed to making a difference locally, Professor Connell serves as vice chair on the board of Sustainable Atlanta, a non-profit organization. He holds a BBA from Belmont University and an MBA from the University of California-Berkeley, where he was affiliated with the Center for Responsible Business.
